![]() My next challenge: Implement a warning msg in Outlook when you try and send an email that is larger than 25MB. Where is used to crash, I can only attribute that to having too many subscribed folders ALL being synchronized when performing a send and receive. By Mr. Turn your computer off and turn it back on after a minute or two and check if syncing to Outlook is faster. Understand that this requires an active connection, hence why I like to download the entire content of the message all the time.Īfter I adjusted my subscribed folders and send / receive groups, my Outlook is performing like a champ. Restart your computer 0 (0) 0 (0) Maybe your computer is overloaded by a 'demanding' program, or maybe your antivirus was scanning your computer in the background, but it got stuck. Once you click on a message from your inbox, it will connect to IMAP and download the rest. ![]() If you are also planning to try this new update then. That seems right for my purposes, but you can choose just headers. The main reason behind IMAP folders not syncing in Outlook is security update (KB2837618 or KB2837643). I like to receive all headers and download full content for subscribed folders (now you get why you adjust the subscribed folders!!). Select the IMAP tab in the pop up window and ensure that you tick the Store. Once that is completed you can also adjust your send and receive groups (google it). Right click on the account on the left side of the screen and choose Properties. If you remove a default folder you will be yacked at and it will return to the list. Also I selected to show all folders not just subscribed folders. I only need my inbox synchronized for changes, so I remove all other NON DEFAULT folders (I think I have 200 or so). Click Subscribed folders and perform the query. This changes the view in the Navigation pane to show all of the mail folders in your mailbox, including the Sync Issues folder and its three sub-folders. Close and restart Outlook to re-sync your IMAP account. If the Root folder path is empty, type the word ' Inbox ' and then click Next and Finish to apply the change. Highlight the IMAP account and click Change. You will have a new screen that will query ALL ONLINE folders or Subscribed folders. At the bottom of the navigation pane click on the ellipsis (the three dots) and select the Folders option. From the Outlook File menu click Account Settings -> Account Settings. The best way I accomplished a faster Outlook w/ GMAIL was to adjust which folders are being synchronized on send/receive by right clicking the imap root folder and selecting IMAP Folders. Or determining the number of unread messages. For instance when moving messages out of your inbox and into a sub folder. This happens very often, and as a result with many sub folders and many messages this can take a considerable amount of time. When you use IMAP Folders the client and the server have to go back and forth to distinguish any changes that might exist and synchronize them. There might be a better way of achieving a truly faster gmail experience with Outlook (2007):
